  4. (polygamy), one woman and two or more men 
  5. (polyandry). The basis of marriage varies 
  6. considerably in different societies

  8. marriages in some other societies), but most 
  9. marriage ceremonies, contracts, or customs 
  10. involve a set of rights and duties, such as 
  11. care and protection, and there is generally 
  12. an expectation that children will be born of 
  13. the union to continue the family line, and 
  14. maintain the family property.
